Started in 2010 with about 10 farmers, at The Talisman in Karen, OFM quickly grew to become a centre for great food. Now hosted on Saturday from 9am to 4pm at Marula Studios, 40 Marula Lane in Karen, OFM welcomes certified organic farmers offering farm fresh organic produce and various healthy food businesses.
Farmers and food producers play a critical role when it comes to health and environment. The organic farmers market encourages a healthier biodiversity and environment as we understand that there is only one health and planet that doesn’t have a spare parts. There is no better way than doing this with farmers. We can achieve better health and environment through farmers that embrace and are willing to take the path of ecological farming practices. Food must be produced the right way right from the fRm level. The market welcomes certified organic farmers, those under transition and are willing to produce food the best possible way. Food can be produced without the use of poison. Every individual deserves exceptional food and in whatever we do, we must support biodiversity.
No synthetic pesticides, harmful agrochemicals. People should not be fed poison. Food can be produced without the use of toxic farm inputs.
OFM provides Kenya Children’s Home with produce every month helping to give the children in their care nutritious, balanced meals.
While much is made of the environmental responsibility of going organic, it also means accepting a social responsibility. OFM has been lucky enough to be hosted for free since its creation, so in 2012 we devised a way to give back with the proceeds from our stall fees. OFM provides Kenya Children’s Home with produce worth Ksh. 150,000 every month, helping to give the children in their care nutritious, balanced meals.
